What is a Cittaslow?

Put simply, a Cittaslow or 'Slow Town' is a place where quality of life is important.

To be eligible to join Cittaslow, a town must have a population under 50,000 (around 10,500 people live in Ludlow) and it needs to score around 50 percent against a set of some 60 Cittaslow Goals.

The Cittaslow movement started in Italy in 1999 and has links with Slow Food movement. It has now become an international movement and the Cittaslow UK network is growing.

For more information check out Cittaslow UK's website, and the new Slow Food UK site.
